Hey there!

Quote:What brought you into jailbreaking?

I was a hardcore Apple fanboy nearly since birth. Its waned and waxed over the years, mostly waxed, but that's another story.

My first Apple was an Apple II; my first Mac, a Macintosh SE. My Dad brought me these home from work, starting when I was three.

I bought "the iPhone" the day it came out. It was amazing. But I was aghast at the fact that it was "locked down", and I didn't have root access. So I jumped on the JB wagon pretty early. While I'm not quite sure the "first" tool I used, the earliest jailbreak I really remember was the original jailbreak.me. Mostly because I used to have fun going around the Apple Store store jailbreaking the display devices.

I could go on, but basically: I currently have six or seven functional jailbroken [i|tv]OS devices I hack on presently. I've kept a pretty low profile for the most part until now; but I'm looking to maybe change that, be more visible. I've been diving deeper over the last few years. I have a lot of unpublished half-finished code, but or now, you can find a few bits and pieces of me and my work places like GitHub, AskDifferent, etc.

Question: my principle focus right now is macOS security. Is this forum an appropriate place for that as well? If so, which subform should I use for discussing (for example) hspGuard etc?

In any case, I'm so glad I found this forum! Thank you for creating it, I'm excited to use it! (I've got a bunch of other questions about using this forum but I'll save them for another time.)

Cheers!

P.S.
As it happens, I stumbled here from one of your posts on Jonathan Levine's forum! Smile)

And, although it goes without saying, I'm a big fan of your work. Myself, I don't see what's so wrong about dropping $100/year to be able to get decent access for these expensive device(s) that cost so much more than that. Why does it seem like everyone look downs on "developer-only" methods?

P.P.S.
Also, I often use a handle that starts "Geo" too, as my name is Geoff. So I signed up here the handle "gsn", my initials. But I'm thinking, maybe I should start using a more `31337` handle? You know, to be taken more seriously in "the community"? Whatcha think, Ge0xFF?

Haha, Hi Geoff.
Had a good time reading your post. Bit of a throwback for me to the days I got my first Mac and was amazed by what it can do and how different the ecosystem was, coming from Windows. Grew up to like both of them, but remained a macOS addict.

Jailbreaking my devices became second nature as well due to the locked-down paradigm Apple uses, but thankfully, we as a community can move mountains.

Jonathan Levin's books (and the forum) are amazing! I owe most of what I know about iOS and MacOS to the two ridiculously detailed books he's put so much work into. It's thanks to the knowledge I've acquired from him that I was able to make my own Jailbreak for iOS 11.x and iOS 12.x, the Osiris Jailbreak.

I hope you'll enjoy the forum, and hopefully it will grow slowly but surely into a nice community for the *OS enthusiasts. As for the security (both macOS and iOS / *OS), you're welcome to post in the Jailbreak Development, or the newly created macOS Security / Internals subforum Smile (Thanks for the idea).

Great looking home
hope you don't mind me hanging around Smile

My last project was Pay TV, Jtagging Sat boxes circuit boards and dumping

It was great fun but all the online streaming has killed that hobby Sad

Hi all,

I'm suzughia from Italy.

I'm a bit old but not too much. I've started Jb with my first iPhone a 3G model, then took a iPhone 4 and switched to an Nokia N9 with MeeGo. Come back with iPhone 5S that I've sold to qwerty for his jb experiment for Yalu 8.4.1 JB. Then bumped to iPhone X and now iPhone Xs. I've also have an iPad Air on 9.3.3.

I really like Mac but I've loved BSD (OpenBSD) in my middle age.

Cheers.

Well MacUser here since 2004. Been using iOS or iPhone firmware sense version three. What was that like 2008? I have been lurking and following everything that Geo says particularly since we had pangu. That was my last jailbreak. I haven’t really had much of a desire because I don’t need SB settings for quick settings anymore LOL.
I don’t need backgrounder anymore. They eventually integrated my main needs in iOS 12  especially iOS 13 I am a huge fan. Ever since I got my first beta copy (well besides the portrait and landscape keyboard and application bags. Not to mention the overwhelming other data on previous betas. I’ve gotten tired of sitting back and watching what goes on around these parts LOL I Don’t know a whole lot about everything I am definitely an amateur however I did go to college for computer networking and I have a side business of Minor PC repair and I and End up working on more Annedroids than I do PCs these days Because of factory reset protection ;-) I would’ve been more iPhones if it were possible again ha ha because of factory reset protection ;-) I would’ve been more iPhones if it were possible again ha ha
In other words I am here finally officially this isn’t just a top sight pinned to my Firefox LOL

| Hello everyone! |  Cool
I have been visited this page alot of times and now i decided to register.

I'm a Huge fan of GeoSn0w and i always watch his videos on youtube.

I'm a Jailbreaker since 2009: When i got my first iPod touch 3G and decided to try Jailbreak. The first Tethered Jailbreak i ever tried its Blackra1n by Geohot (George Hotz).

My current daily devices which is always in my pocket are:
1. iPhone X, iOS 11.1.1 / JB Electra | Coolstar |
2. iPhone X, iOS 11.2.6 / JB Electra | Coolstar |
3. iPhone 7, iOS 10.1.1 / JB Extra_Recipe | qwertyoruiop |
4. iPhone 6, iOS 11.1.1 (Testing device) / JB Electra | Coolstar |
5. iPhone 7, iOS 12.4 (Testing device) / JB Unc0ver | Pwn20wnd & others include GeoSn0w |

Other device which i use only for testing:
6. iPhone 6+, iOS 8.3 / JB TaiG | Chinese TaiG team |
7. iPhone 5S, iOS 10.1.1 / JB Yalu102 | qwertyoruiop |
8. iPhone 5C, iOS 7.0.3 / JB Evasi0n | evad3rs |
9. iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2 / JB Pangu | Pangu team |
10. iPad 3, iOS 6.1 / JB Evasi0n | evad3rs |
11. iPod touch 3G, iOS 3.1.3 / JB JailbreakMe 2.0 | Comex | (Device top of screen not working / i dont bother to fix this old iPod touch anymore).

- I'm still using Electra on my main/daily devices because i dont have time to reset into factory settings and switch to Unc0ver and i dont have any problems on Electra since i jailbroken when it released.

Me?: I'm just a normal Asian man. I born in Finland, but my roots are from china. Parents borns in Malaysia and i have all my other families living in there.

Language that i speak?: I can able to speak cantonese chinese, Finnish, English and little bit of mandarin chinese..

Can i read chinese?: No! Because i born in Finland and there was a chinese teacher who teaching me to read/write chinese when i'm still young, but he suddenly goto far away for studying so i have lost my opportunity to learn chinese read/writes.

My hobbies are?: Nunchaku, Playing card throwing, Self-protect / Wing chun and Tai chi etc.., Lion dance w/brother, Freestyle dance & iOS Jailbreak.

My works are?: Currently i'm repairing iPhones at work with my own company. Before i repair all brands like Huawei, Samsung, Nokia etc... but they are not worth to repair anymore, because if customer brings their broken phone to their own brand repairstore then its much cheaper then repair on me. I help customers to save money aswell so i suggest them to bring to their own mobile brand repairstore. iPhone repair is currently what i'm doing and also a new project (nano coating), we can able to coat everything with this liquid and it will last 10 years for the protection. I have a video proof that i used my coated iPhone screen as a hammer and beats the nails into woods.

What i'm worrying right now?: For my life and business i dont have anything to worry, but i currently worrying about my Jailbreak apps. My Jailbreak apps are still signing and its under 22 hours left. I cant live without Jailbreak, because i never use iPhone without a Jailbreak and i only use Jailbroken iPhones as daily device. If Jailbreak are not possible.. i will be using Androids. I cant live without modifications that i did since 2009 and iOS Jailbreak is the best modification i ever had!

- ReProvision EOL: ReProvision is only tool i used to resign my jailbreak apps, but now i dont know what other method i can able to use. My computer/laptop is Windows and i dont have Mac/Macbook yet so i cant sign/resign apps with Xcode.

- Other Signing/App servers like Ignition, App Valley etc.. which can able to download from safari: Like GeoSn0w said in his youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vlay9uTg2Lk - Apple will revoke them more and more... , but if we able to download from those website when our devices are rebooted and if it does download/working then we are lucky in that moment and can re-jailbreak again until next time if they get revoked then we are out of luck.

- Dont giveup our hopes yet!: I believe that some developer will take advantage and continue updating ReProvision someday!

| Also i'm waiting |
GeoSn0w
for great news about signing server updates for windows users or ReProvision continues etc.
