How did you compile it?

There's a reply above on this thread where someone posted a compiled binary.

As for compiling, the instructions are available in the ReadMe of the GitHub Repo.

The instructions aren't that clear in my opinion. Especially for someone who isn't familiar with knowing how to use the terminal for macOS (or even macOS in general since I'm more familiar with windows).
On the website it says exactly this:

To compile run:
./autogen.sh
make
sudo make install

Where do I type this? (Terminal or Xcode I've been hearing from others even?) Am I supposed to type something before typing/executing those commands? Just by looking at it, I'm uncertain if the WHOLE thing is a command to type or separated into 3 different commands (I have a feeling it's this. But, like I said, is this all I am supposed to type? I tried that and it didn't work.). I'm sure it makes sense for those who have prior knowledge of the terminal if they saw this. But for someone completely new at this, it isn't quite clear to me.
Others and I also still face issues even after given the compiled file/version. The file I believe is right (I checked the files inside, and again, how did you get that? As the files are completely different compared to inside the one downloaded from thimstar's github ("img4tool-master.zip"). But since its a zip file, when trying to "chmod 775" it, it doesn't become into a terminal/executable file.
Also, I am running macOS Sierra. Is/Could this be a problem?

You will run all your commands in terminal at the folder ( right click folder, click terminal at folder) this is where you will compile tool.

I need some help...

Trying to compile img4tool on MacOS Catalina running on a VM with VM Player...

While running make I always get this:

/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/bin/make  all-recursive
Making all in img4tool
Makefile:534: ../external/libgeneral/libgeneral/.deps/libimg4tool_la-exception.Plo: No such file or directory
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `../external/libgeneral/libgeneral/.deps/libimg4tool_la-exception.Plo'.  Stop.
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

Already tried:

git clone --recursive

and

git submodule update --recursive

with no avail.

What the heck is going on?

Were you able to run ./autogen.sh smoothly? If you were, could you please tell me show how you did it?

git clone --recursive https://github.com/tihmstar/img4tool.git

cd img4tool

git submodule init

git submodule update --recursive

./autogen.sh

This was what I've done.

If it fails for some reason, maybe you need more dependencies. Before trying this, not sure if it's needed for this, I've also installed brew:

/usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebr...er/install)

and afterwards I've used brew to install:

brew install libtool automake lsusb openssl libzip pkg-config libplist

As I've said, I'm really not sure if this was needed but I've saw it on MatthewPierson's 1033-OTA-Downgrader restore script, so I've thought that we should have those installed.

Anyway, and regarding my issue, I'm still facing issues while running make. Anyone knows why this happens? It feels like the submodule is not populating the directories correctly....

Some help would be very much appreciated....
