Today we have some great news for those of you who were waiting for Fugu15-MaxJailbreak to become more stable! The public beta 7 is now available in IPA format, and it fixes a huge amount of bugs, and issues with the jailbreak adding functionality and making it so much more stable. This jailbreak works on iOS 15.0 up to iOS 15.4.1 on A12+ Devices (iPhone XS, XR, 11, 12, etc.).

While this jailbreak supports tweaks thanks to ElleKit, this is still in development. The Public Betas were released by opa334 because people were compiling the code on Github and distributing their own IPAs which made things confusing and potentially dangerous. While the jailbreak is now available in beta 7, you can wait until it's deemed ready for the general public if you don't wanna mess with beta.

In today's video, we're discussing an important step you should take if you want to be able to jailbreak your iOS device in the near future. iOS 16.4.1 was released by Apple a while ago, and with it, 2 important vulnerabilities that we might be able to use for jailbreaking were patched.

I highly recommend you downgrade to iOS 16.4 if you upgraded to iOS 16.4.1 or iOS 16.5 Beta as fast as you can. The signing window for iOS 16.4 will very likely not stay open for a long time as Apple tends to unsign versions quite fast. If you want to jailbreak iOS 16, the best versions to be on are below iOS 16.2, but if you already updated, iOS 16.4 is ok too. Otherwise, stay as low as possible.

Cowabunga Lite is officially coming to Windows. As you probably know, Cowabunga allows you to tweak and theme your iOS device from iOS 14.0 up to iOS 16.1.2. Amongst the tweaks, you can customize the status bar, home screen, app icons, sounds, fonts, and so on. Initially, Cowabunga was based on MacDirtyCow, but the developer figured out a way to port it to iOS 16.2 and newer on all devices.

While not all Cowabunga tweaks could be ported to the Lite version, some of them could and the theming platform still works up to iOS 16.5 on all devices including iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and so on.

In yesterday's video, we talked about two new vulnerabilities patched by Apple in iOS 16.4.1 that were released a few days ago. Today, Apple has also released iOS 15.7.5 which patches the same vulnerabilities for devices that cannot run iOS 16. Developer Linus Henze released their proof of concept code for one of the vulnerabilities publicly on GitHub just a few hours ago.

According to Apple's security content, these vulnerabilities may have been used in the wild, so they've been circulating in the iOS security research communities for a while now before Apple caught wind of it and patched it. Whether this is usable for jailbreak purposes remains debatable as a PAC / PPL bypass would still be required.

Finally, the well-known BigBoss repo started supporting rootless tweak submissions, joining the Havoc Repo and a few others. This is a major movement in our community considering that all jailbreaks nowadays are rootless and they require proper rootless tweaks.

Since iOS 15 rolled around with tweak-breaking changes, tweak developers had to host their tweaks on GitHub or other self-hosted repos which caused a lot of fragmentation in the community. Now they can finally submit their updated packages to the default repos. This applies to jailbreaks like Fugu15 Max, PaleRa1n, and XinaA15.

It certainly is a sad day in the jailbreak community. Developer Coolstar has officially announced its departure from the jailbreak community after being active for 10 years as a tweak and jailbreak developer. Amongst their creations, we have jailbreaks like Electra, Chimera, Odyssey, and Taurine Jailbreak, and we have Sileo and even Anemone and libhooker.

Over a year ago, Coolstar started working on their Cheyote Jailbreak project which was supposed to work on iOS 15.0 - 15.1.1. They never fully finished this project as tweak developers largely avoided updating their tweaks for libhooker. It looks like now Cheyote jailbreak is officially abandoned.

While opa334 doesn't recommend using the Public Beta for now if you don't mind the bugs and the fact that the jailbreak is still in development, you may grab Fugu15 Max from their official GitHub as the jailbreak is open-source. Fugu15 Max supports all A12+ devices and newer, on iOS 15.0 up to iOS 15.4.1.
