With the release of iOS 16 Developer Beta 1 today at #wwdc22, new features such as a customizable lock screen, improved Apple Pay, SharePlay in iMessage, better privacy features, and much more was released. The customizable lock screen allows one to pick a custom font, widgets, wallpapers, and even create various animated scenarios.
This is as close as we can get to the lock screen being customizable like it is on jailbroken devices. While many of the features present on jailbreak tweaks aren't here just yet, it's a great step towards more customizability. If you are waiting for a jailbreak, however, I do not recommend updating just for this.
